End of Year

Sup peoples! It's 7 and a half days away from the end of the school year! Wow, I never expected this  year to go so fast... It's Wednesday and next Wednesday is the Poroaki and the day after that is the last day! It only goes for half a day, the last day of... of... GRi11? Oh and primary school of course. I never expected this day to come. Actually, I did. Next Tuesday, the day before Poroaki, we have a Year 6 disco and the theme is 70s Disco. Ohhh no. Then, the day after that, is Wednesday and it's the Poroaki. I have to wear a dress?! My friend Isabella, might get picked to say her speech as she is in the finals for it. Two are going to be picked. I hope she gets picked! The next day is the last day and we only go to 12:30pm. Wow, I will miss GRi11. *sighs* Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this blog post and maybe I'll keep posting next year? See ya in 2016!!

Party + Gala = AWESOME!!!

Well, well, well. I sure had a busy weekend. *strokes imaginary beard* PARTY!!!!! Oops. That's already been. GALA!!!!! Oops. Also, that's already been. Let's just start with the party. It was my BFF's birthday party, her name is Alice. She actually already is 11 but it was just her party. It was at the amazing place. FLIP CITY!!! But, I can't do flips, so it's more like, CITY!!! Still. It was very fun. I arrived at her house early because we were bringing a mattress over for the sleepover. At 3:40 we left and headed for Flip City. Everyone was already there and waiting. We jumped on and raced around. In 15 minutes I was exhausted. I jumped around, nearly making it up the challenge wall. After that we went back to her home and played Go Home Stay Home.

At 9 pm most people left to go home and Alice, Nadia, Mia and I stayed for a sleepover. Well, Alice lives there so she didn't really stay for a sleepover. I fell asleep quickly. The next day, I woke up ready to go to the Gala. Turns out I had to wait till 1pm cause we were going then. I waited, bored. Then my Mum called me. "Sweetie get ready for the Gala!" I jumped up and shut my computer lid with a loud SNAP! I was standing at the door in a minute and waiting for Alice to come round. She did at 1ish and we walked to the Gala.

As I stepped out the Alleyway, I was immediately surrounded by sweet smells and singing. Alice and I explored the whole Gala, walking around arm-in-arm. I saw Jaweria and sprinted over to her. She said that she had already been here for an hour because of her little sister. Alice and I quickly bought some delicious lolly cake and, um, that lolly cake now no longer exists. We waited in the line for Hot Chips for about 10 minutes and as we were second in line, they sold out of Hot Chips and Hot Dogs. I sighed and bought a can of Fanta. Then, I bought some Candyfloss. And that's also gone now.

#DoTheSprinkler

Sprinkler, shuffle, turn round on one foot, jump, do the worm/caterpillar, finish by sliding on the floor. That is the... GRi11 DANCE OFF!!!!!!!!! We had a GRi11 Dance Off yesterday on the 27th of October. We had to get into groups of four with a mixture of boys and girls. I was with, Tiaki, Josh and Ben H. Well, we had three minutes to come up with a dance. We had things prepared to do and they were pretty cool! Tiaki and I were going to cartwheel on while Ben and Josh shuffle on. Then we would do a sorta lunge and come back up, then the other way and turn around on one foot, hopping.

After the short three minutes Mr R called us to come around the circle in the middle of the Hall. Jaweria, Isabella, Odn and Aaron's group was first and they were versing Alyssa, Sophie, Jacob K and Sam B's group. Jaweria's group won.

We went third and were versing... hmmm, I can't remember. When we saw the circle we had to dance in, we abandoned all our previous ideas of cartwheeling and things. The song started and we were going to do the sorta lunge thing at the chorus. So while we waited for the chorus we did the sprinkler. Then the chorus came. "3, 2, 1." Tiaki whispered and we started the lunge thing. The other team just stared at us and kept shuffling and doing the sprinkler. I think we did about 8 before the song ended. We just stood there when the song ended and listened as the audience cheered. It was a close one though but we won. WOOH!

 But that's all we've got for now, so see ya!

The Learning Pit!

Term 4. The last Term. This Term our unit is about... EVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!! On Tuesday, we had a challenge to make a balloon powered car. All we got was a piece of paper with our materials on it. I was in a group with, Jaweria, Isabella, Tiaki and Holly. We made ours but it failed. F.A.I.L. First Attempt In Learning. That's when we learnt about the Learning Pit. Have you ever felt excited then your mood goes down as you learn more about a challenge? "Wooh! This is gonna be easy!" You say at the start. "This is hard. I wanna give up!" This is what you are saying when you are in the middle. "I could maybe put this here next time I do this. Hmmmm, now I know what to do." Is what you will be saying at the end. So yeah that's it for now. I will give you more detail as we delve deeper into the Term. After all, it is only the end of Week 1 today!

Trip to Malaysia, Thailand and Australia in the holidays!

Hey guys! It's now Term 4, the last term! In the Term 3 holidays I went to Malaysia, Thailand and Australia. Kuala Lumpur, Phuket and Sydney. It was very hot there and in Phuket it was polluted. At a show in Phuket called 'Siam Niramit' was very cool. There were 3,000 people in the audience and my sister, Tayler, was the only person picked to go on stage. She humiliated herself. *facepalm* After she finished her embarrassing performance, we watched the rest of the show and it was awesome. There was an actual river on stage! Our resort in Phuket was really nice. There was this massive pool and we also got breakfast every morning. We stayed there for a week. On Saturday we left to the airport and flew to Kuala Lumpur. It's the capital of Malaysia. It was very hazy there and our apartment was on the top floor. 30th floor to be exact. Eeek! So high! That apartment was very flash. 3 days there. The flight to Australia from Kuala Lumpur was 8 hours long. Sydney was like home, New Zealand. We went there for my Aunty's birthday and my Mum's birthday. My Auntie is now 50 and my Mum is now 45, although, as I joke about it, Mum is 57 because she looks so old to me. Hehe! In Sydney we also went to the aquarium, zoo and wax museum. Aquarium was awesome. Zoo was amazing. But the wax museum bet them. They made famous people out of wax and the looked so real that you would think they were standing beside you. Too real, creepy real. So, I met the Queen and took a selfie with her. I don't know why she stays in the same position. How does she stand like that and stay there? Hmmm, maybe because she's made out of wax. Also met Barack Obama. Took lots of pictures of them. Went on the ET bike. My favourite was Taylor Swift because she is my favourite singer. Oh and yeah at all places I bought tons of stuff. I bought the most but spent the least. Oooh at a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur there was 12 FLOORS. Nooooo too much shopping for me. 600 shops???!?!?!? Oh come on. And one whole floor was a theme park. It was awesome! Went on the rollercoaster 4 times. I LOVED MY HOLIDAY!!

The Dream by Jaweria, Isabella and Emma

Here's our animation! It's the weirdest animation ever... It's about a girl who has a dream. She watches TV then suddenly everything disappears as well as her. An old man comes and then he falls. After that a shark comes and a bottle of slime falls on it. Then an elephant with a guitar. After that the old man comes back and again everything disappears. The girl wakes up and she flies up while her mother is in the room. Then everything disappears again! The End! (also it is called 'The Dream')

The Mind Lab...

MIND LAB IN PETONE!!!

Yesterday we went to The Mind Lab in Petone. It was awesome. First the long bus ride to Petone, which was 2 hours. I was sitting right up the front at the window seat with Tiaki beside me. Across from me were Jaweria and Isabella. We were special since we were in the front and we had seat belts. Soon we were there. We were almost blew away by the wind when we hopped out of the bus. We eventually go there and sat down in the main room. 2 people were waiting for us. They introduced them selves as Malcolm and Benedict. There were five activities waiting for us. 1. Get a paper cup with 3 felt pens and tape/rubber band them to the cup. Put a motor with a battery pack on it and try and get it to wobble around. 2. Make a car with cardboard, cds, skewers, straws, tape and motor and battery packs. 3. 3D Printing. 4. Stop motion animation. 5. MaKey MaKey, with circuits. So that was Mind Lab!!!!! Can we have one in school?? 

Malaysia and Thailand (and Sydney)

Oooh!!! On the 25th of September I'm going away to Malaysia and Thailand and Sydney for 2 weeks. Only 8 days till I go away!! We're driving down to Wellington then flying up to Auckland. Our flight to Kuala Lumpur is at midnight and when we get there we're flying to Phuket after that and spending a week there. After that we are flying back to Kuala Lumpur and spending 3 days there. On the way back we are flying to Sydney for my aunty's 50th birthday. The day after that it is my mum's 45th birthday. We have 2 more days left there. Then we fly back to Auckland and then Wellington and drive to Palmerston North. So that's my holiday and I can't wait!!!! =D

Basketball- Semi Finals

Hey there everyone! Last night on the 10th of September, my basketball team, the College Street Panthers, had our semi-final game of basketball. We were winning in the first quarter but the other team, Akourtre drew close but we eventually overtook them. Soon it was the last quarter but we were winning by tons. At one point a guy in my team called Ryan got the ball and sprinted for a lay-up. He got three in. Sadly in that game I got no goals but I had lots of shooting chances but didn't get one in. The last few minutes ticked on the clock. It was 30:14. I stole the ball off my defender and sprinted down the court. My defender was just behind me. I stopped dribbling and my defender flew past me. I wasn't gonna get a shot in from here. I quickly passed it to Alex who passed it to Tiaki and got it in. We jogged back over halfway. There was a minute left on the clock and the other team quickly came to get a goal. My defender had the ball. There was no way that they were gonna get a goal with me marking them! They took forever to go up the court and dribbling slowly. By the time they got to the goal there were 5 seconds left on the clock. They shot and didn't get it in. The loud buzzer went off to signal the end of the game. I walked over to my coach with my teammates panting loudly. "Yeah!!!!! We won!" Me and my teammates chorused loudly. We shook hands with the other team and saying 'good game!' That night I went home happy. WE'RE IN THE FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Extension Writing

Hi guys! I'm back! And I made it into Extension Writing! We have to write a realistic narrative. (spoilers!) Mine is about someone being on a plane and it crashes (spoilers!). This is the start of it: Lucy  stared out the window at the midnight sky. The plane rose higher and higher into the sky. She leaned her head onto the back of the seat and hoisted up her blanket. Lucy snuggled into it and her eyelids began to close... =)

A procedure to make glow in the dark play-dough!

Glow in the Dark Play-dough!!!! (no cook)

This procedure will help you make awesome Glow in the Dark Play-dough!! (no cook) Made in 5 easy steps!

Ingredients: 1 cup of plain flour. ½ a cup of salt. 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. 1 tablespoon of oil. Food colouring (any colour, depends on which colour you want). 1 cup of boiling water. Neon/glow in the dark paints (non toxic).

Step 1: Mix all in ingredients except the boiling water and paint together into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add the boiling water and mix well - please take care when using boiling water around children.

Step 3: Stir well until the mixture is well combined.

Step 4: Separate your mixture into even balls and add your colour of choice to each.

Step 5: Roll out your dough on a flat surface, wait for the sun to go down, turn off your lights and you are ready for some GLOWING Play-dough FUN!!!!

Ok forget about that Magnoball. We are starting an actual business. We're going to sell our product for real money. We are making.... GlOW IN THE DARK PLAY-DOUGH!!! Yay. Ice skating in the holidays!

Since the school holidays just ended I'm writing this blog post about the holidays. I didn't do much but one thing I did do was ice skating and I'm here to tell you about it, also there is some photos too, not of me but of the ice skating rink. So actually I was at Ariana's party and it was ice skating. It was very busy because it was a nice sunny day! On the ice was snow because I mean its an ice skating rink you need snow! Also snow makes quite a good grip. ( There are coolers under the ice so the ice doesn't melt ) For some completely random reason I wanted to fall over. Trust me I do not know why I wanted to. We skated around for a bit and it was fun! Also I started to skate quite good! When we were about to go off, we quickly skated right to the middle and started doing random stuff! At one point we started playing freeze and I did but since I was frozen I started going down a small slope like a teeny tiny hill and started going backwards. I tried to stop myself but then my dream came true! I fell over right onto my butt. So that wasn't so good....

Term 3 - MagnoBall!!!

Hi people! It was the school holidays and now I'm back!!! It's Term 3 now and our unit is business! We were told to make a product or service that wasn't on the market and thankfully we got to pick our own groups. In my group was, Jaweria, Isabella, Ariana and Tiaki. We first picked a topic and we decided on sport. We came up with four ideas and we picked our favourite one. This is our idea: Fit a magnet inside say a basketball and it would stick to the hoop and then drop in. Our name for this is Magnoball. From then on we have expanded the whole idea and even found a expanded idea for it. We would have a remote to turn the magnet on and off. Anyway here is our logo: 

So thats about it for this blog post. Hopefully one day you would see the Magnoball product on the market!! 

( By the way, Jaweria is CEO. I'm manager. Tiaki is all about that financial stuff. Ariana is the designer. And Isabella is like the logo maker and also the designer. We all make the item. )

My Highlight Of Term 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so this post is about my highlight of Term 2!! I have lots of choices but I can only pick one. Hmmm what would it be?? It would probably be the Go For Gold programme because I get to do I.T and for the this term we did animation and Tiaki and I made an awesome animation about endangered animals!! I really like doing the Go For Gold programme and I want to do it next term! We have learned lots about animation and the I.T group is going to enter their animations they made into the Digi Awards!!!

This is my Solar System ( you have to look sideways to see it properly ) and we had to estimate the sizes of the planets and use play-dough to make them. How I estimated the sizes is: There is a big picture of the Solar System on the board and I could see the sizes and I had to make them the right sizes like since Saturn is smaller then Jupiter I had to make sure that Saturn was smaller :D

A trip around Earth

The bulged-eye alien glanced around the strange room as he woke up. He stood up and saw a weird creature staring at him. “Hello! I’m here to show you around Earth and tell you all about our way of doing things! I’m your instructor and I’m a human!” The strange creature announced cheerfully. “Where am I?” The alien asked. “Good you can speak English. Well you are here in my house! The ‘human’ answered. “Come on! I’m gonna tell you all about Earth! Where have you come from?” The human asked. “I came from Mars….” The alien scratched his bald head. “Wow! Mars is a nice place! Anyway come on! Out this door and you will be on the planet Earth!” The alien stepped out the door and his massive eyes became even more massive with awe. He glanced down startled as a four-legged animal came bursting out the door and started twining around his skinny legs. “Argh! What’s that?!?!?” The alien leaped back in cowered with his back to a tree. The instructor laughed. “That is my cat!” “This is New Zealand! It is a lovely place here and it has 4.5 million people in this country!” “Woahhhhhhhhhh!” The alien exclaimed. The instructor started walking quickly away and the alien hurried to catch up. They passed some more people who stared at the alien with wide eyes. The instructor leaned down towards the alien and muttered just loud enough for the alien to hear her but no other person would. “They are people. Just like me so they are not food. Also close your eyes” The alien nodded and closed his bulging eyes. The instructor guided him to a lot of mist that had just appeared. “Open your eyes.” The alien heard in one of his ears. He opened them and saw a complete different place that they were in. “Where, where am I?” The alien moved his gaze from the instructor to the landscape in front of them. “Your at the beach young alien!” The alien saw gold sand stretching out for distances upon distances. He turned his head to see waves of water lapping at the sand. “Alright come on this way!” The human gestured to him and sat down a piece of cloth with a pole dug into the sand  and a round paper look-alike sheltering the two pieces of cloth. “Come sit here and I will tell you all about Earth!” The alien did as he was told and sat down. “Ok so as you saw my cat before that is a pet. We have pets and they are not food! We have cars that we travel around in to get here and there. We have jobs so we have to go there at certain times. My job is a vet nurse and I help look after sick pets or injured pets. Ok thats all I can say for now! There is a lot more things to learn about Earth! I hope you had a nice time here little alien!” The alien blinked and he disappeared….

Cross Country Writing

I peered out the bus window as we pulled to a halt at the dreaded cross country. I jumped out of the bus and chatted to my friend Jaweria wondering what was it gonna be like. “This way!” I heard someone call out. And at once there was a swarm of kids all clambering to be first. Me and my friends trudged along at the near back of the group. “Eww!!!!” I heard from about a metre away. I stood on my tiptoes trying to see over everyone to see what was going on. And thats when I stepped into a big patch of mud. I stared down at my shoes which had gooey mud oozing over them and I quickly side-stepped over to the dry bank of land.

BANG!!!! I shot off like a rocket when I heard the fake gun go. Suddenly a very steep hill loomed over me. The blaring sun vanished behind it because of the height of the hill. I jogged up the hill and when I was almost at the top I glanced behind me, still running, but I could see everyone trudging up the hill. I felt a flash of pride that I had managed to jog up the hill. But I quickly turned back and sprinted along the track.

Soon there were so many holes and rabbit burrows on the cross country track that I was basically twisting my ankle with every step. So it not that good.

I kept sprinting but then I saw some hay bales which you had to jump over. I cleared them then carried on sprinting.

That’s when I saw the finish line!!! I ran down the winding hill and sprinted to get across the finish line. “Yeah! Go Emma!” I heard my parents scream. I flashed a grin at them as I flew past. I threw my gaze down on the ground and shot over the finish line. I ran around in a tight circle to my mum and my step-dad. “That was awesome sweetie!” My mum smiled proudly at me. “Woah, never knew you could run so fast!” My step-dad looked amazed. I panted in their face. “Tha…...nks….” My mum handed my drink bottle over and I grabbed it and glugged it down. Soon there was nothing left.

So that is my cross country writing. This is last years’ cross country because I missed out on this years’ cross country.

The Mud Run!

I stepped into the first part of the everlasting track of mud and felt the squelchy mud oozing between my toes. “Oh no, how is this going to end?” I thought to myself.

I followed the path of mud and I saw that it led to an averagely big area of watery mud. And there were people swimming in it. I got down onto the slippery mud and cautiously slid into the mud. The mud went up to my waist and I could feel the brown goo sliding up me. I quickly raised my arms above the surface and waded through. Once I got to the end I gripped my hands to the dry mud and tried to heave myself up. I couldn’t get up! The parent who was there reached out his hand and pulled me out. “Thanks!” I said breathlessly.

I ran to next part and went around the edge of yet another watery patch and then the safety dry mud ended so I had to half-walk half-jump into the sticky brown gooey stuff. There was a stick under the mud and I landed on it! Ouch! I quickly made it to the other end and this time managed to get up with my knees by digging them into the mud without a parent helping me!

I slid into the next patch of mud because it looked suspiciously deep. I waded to the end and there was a tiny island with a tree on it and Alyssa’s Dad was leaning from it and helping people up. Beside the island and in the mud Tiaki’s Dad was boosting people up the island and the kids were grabbing the helping hand of Alyssa’s Dad. When I got boosted up I jumped over the gap between mud and safety. Luckily I made it over and didn’t land back in the dreaded mud. So I ran into the next part and jumped into the thick disgusting mud.

My nose wrinkled when I smelled something like cow poo and mud mixed together. Oh wait, it was cow poo and mud mixed together! I tried moving my legs forward but I was stuck. Well and truly stuck! “Hey Emma!” I heard and slightly turned my head and saw Tiaki jump in beside me. She got stuck as well so I had company in the sickening mud. The smell was so bad that Tiaki vomited right beside me! So after that I propelled my legs forward and scrambled out. And so I made it out and went through the shallow thick mud and made it to the complete end of the Mud Run!

For some reason my brain wanted me to do the Mud Run again! So I did. At one point I got told to jump in the watery mud so I took it seriously. And I went under the mud! I had mud all over my face and could hardly see! Everyone started laughing at me and I felt so embarrassed! I skirted around the edge of the thick mud part and managed to go past it without falling in! So I made it back to the end and start finish line and did it two more times! But since I had been under the mud for the rest of the Mud Run I was a….

COMPLETE MUD MONSTER!!!!!! :)

DATE: 16/8/1918

Dear Family,

Today as I carried the injured soldier on my back I could smell the stink of fresh gunpowder. I put the soldier down and jumped into the trench and reached up and pulled the soldier into cover. I carried him to the medic’s hole and carefully put him down. I ran back to the main tunnel and grabbed my gun when I realized that there was Turks in our trench! I shot my gun to many times and then felt myself falling down….

And that’s when everything went black.

I woke up much later in the medic’s hole and saw one of the medics looking down at me. “What… what happened?’’ I stammered. “You fainted because of the heat and you fell down so hard that you have broken your left arm.” The medic said with a sympathetic smile. “Can I still fight?” I asked. “Well… are you left-handed?” “No.” “Good, then you can still fight.” “Yes! I can still fight for my country!” I jumped out of the medic’s hole and grabbed my gun and stepped over all the dead bodies that I guessed were from the fight with the Turks.

“ANZAC’S PLEASE MEET AT THE GENERAL’S HOLE!!!!” That’s when we found out we were going home tomorrow! The war had ended!

Home Sweet Home Writing

I sat up, trembling, then it came out, the scream. So loud. I stopped screaming and just waited and waited. Suddenly I heard a very faint scream from the back of the plane. As I got up to go and investigate, my luggage had somehow exploded open and my toothbrush was sitting on me. I brushed it off and pattered to the back of the plane to find a massive pile of luggage with a little face poking out. Their freckled face was like watermelon seeds. I gripped the topmost luggage bag and heaved it off the person. “Thanks!” The little kid pulled herself out and winced in agony. “Hey are you alright?” She heaved her leg forward and I saw that her leg looked dislocated. “Wow….” Luckily I knew how to fix it. And I did! “So… what’s your name?’’ I asked the little girl. But she was crying, I got out my superman box of tissues and took one out and wiped her little eyes. And her nostrils were filled with blood, so I got another tissue out and carefully wiped them too.”I’m Tayler.” She finally said. I smiled. “I’m Emma.” She smiled. I crouched down to I was face-height with her. “How old are you?” I asked. “10” “I’m 15 Tayler.” “Come on lets go make a home.” I walked out of the plane holding hands with her and we quickly set up a lean to hut made of sticks and other materials with grass for the beds. We would hunt down food like apples and oranges till we thrived. We would live here until something came along and took us back home. Home Sweet Home.
